Do you remember the first bookshop you ever visited with your own money?
For me, it was Abbeys Bookshop in Sydney’s CBD, where I bought a pocket edition of Shakespeare’s Sonnets which I cherished then gave away.
Bookstores remain one of the great wonders of civilisation. You can walk inside and have at your fingertips countless fresh worlds of expertise and escapism.
While our devices tantalize without end, there’s nothing like the heft of a new book (hardcover or paperback) for that promise of cover-to-cover enjoyment and knowledge.
And yes, I couldn’t be more excited that Galaxy Bookshop, upstairs at Abbeys at 131 York Street Sydney, next to the Queen Victoria Building, now stocks my House of Jewels series!
