What a joy it was to meet readers and other Aussie authors out west at the recent ARRA Romantic Rendezvous in Perth.
There’s something distinctly pink and sparkling about romance book gatherings wherever they may be. As one reader and author remarked at our high tea lunch, writers can talk books and writing to their hearts’ content. Such opportunities are relatively rare – ARRA hosts only four per year. #gratitude

I extend my heartfelt thanks to every reader who stopped in at my stall, including those who purchased a book or more. To Leoné, who purchased all nine of my titles, I say I am in awe. Emily bought a book for herself and one for her mother, for Mother’s Day, coming up on Sunday 10 May. Thanks, Emily! So organised!
A great advantage of my books is they can be enjoyed by all readers in the family, whatever their age. So please feel free to share this link with friends and family to download a free e-copy of my House of Diamonds.Â
May my books bring all of you joy!

To my fellow writers who took part in the Big Themes in Small Places panel, thank you!

We were interviewed by the award-winning WA writer Libby Iriks, who went on to win the Favourite Debut Romance Author title for 2026 at the ARRA Awards dinner, with her debut book, Home to the Heart Country. Warmest congrats, Libby!

Introducing …
I’m delighted to introduce to you fellow Aussie author Tess Brennan who describes herself as a sucker for happy endings who believes everyone deserves a love story worth fighting for—which is exactly what she writes about.
Tess’s free book for you, A New Start for Lily, is a sweet, second chance small town romance with a dash of suspense.
Chances to celebrate books
Psst! Do you live in Portland Oregon? I would love the opportunity to speak at Powell’s World of Books, the world’s largest independent bookstore, when I’m in the US in June. While they kindly list the paperback version of The Chase at Brighton Court online here, if you’d like me to visit, would you please ask them to host an author Q&A event with me?
The other possible reader event could be hosted by Fables and Fancies in Sierra Madre in LA, but again, unless readers ask for an author Q&A with me, it won’t happen.
Otherwise, my next appearance will be at the Willoughby Literary Festival. I’m very much looking forward to interviewing historical fiction author Mary-Anne O’Connor at the festival on Friday 17 July 2026 from 2pm to 3pm. Further details will follow.
On the job
My next novel, Plus One at Brighton Court is taking shape. The hero will be Davey, a “hot” biker and baker. He’s the perfect Plus One – never alone, but always lonely …
Off the job
My thanks to sweet historical fiction author Jenny Rae for introducing me to a nook in Goodreads you might enjoy. It’s called Best Closed-Door Club and you can find it here.
You can also find me on Facebook at Amber Jakeman writes feel-good fiction and on Instagram at @JakemanAmber.
Happy reading!
