How do you make an introvert talk?

What do you call a group of authors? A gabble? Put these shy, dedicated introverts together and it’s a party like no other.

In the language of compulsive wordsmiths, we talk tropes and plot points and series and sub-genres. We debate the merits of a never-ending range of apps and platforms for writers, most of which contain the words “book” “reads” or “words” and all of which promise to make writing and marketing easier for us in a world with not enough time.

Because we have excellent imaginations, we’re all on our own journey towards bestseller status. Some of us meander and procrastinate – as one does when reaching out to cherished readers via a newsletter – and others run full pelt, following proper schedules and fulfilling enviable publishing contracts.

The main photo is of me with fellow Aussie authors Carrie Clarke and Karen Lieversz, also from Sydney, both of whom write spicy contemporary romance. We love running into each other at author events.

We caught up recently near the harbour with the lovely historical romance author Kathleen Ross who kindly launched my most recent book, but she headed out early, before we could catch her on camera with us.

I’d also love to introduce you to a couple of book buddies I met recently in Western Australia.

Aussie authors Charisse Nicolle, Amber Jakeman and Birdie Song

Birdie Song writes sweet, optimistic romance. Here is her free reader magnet. If you’d like to skip straight to supporting a young indie author with an investment of just a few dollars, you can find her book The Guy from the Bakery here

As a writer of urban fantasy, Charisse Nicolle writes slightly spicy, wordy and witty novels. For example, please see her book, Beneath the Sleepless Stars.

And because I really, really want to finish Plus One at Brighton Court soon, for your enjoyment, I’ll keep this message brief.

Because I can’t wait for you to meet Davey, the hot biker and baker and perfect Plus One—never alone, always lonely…

Happy reading!
