Thank you, cheer squad!

As an author, I pay extra attention to the acknowledgements at the end of any book I’ve enjoyed.

I’m interested in other authors’ lives, their writing journeys and the people who help them grow from strength to strength — their family and friends, their beta readers, agents, editors, publishers and publicists.

My own acknowledgments lists continue to grow as generous readers encourage my efforts, and while some champions are listed in person, you can be sure that every reader is valued!

Thank you for your feedback, for the time you give in this busy world to read my novels, for your reviews, and for mentioning my books to your friends and family. How fortunate I am that you are effectively “my publicist”!

A shoutout to my beta readers who have been busy reading the next Brighton Court instalment — Plus One at Brighton Court.

Stand by for the cover reveal, blurb and more, coming up in my next blog.

Hello, sunny California

While Sydney shivers in dreary rain ahead of the winter cold, I’m been swanning around sunny California. (Sorry, Sydney!) Even their state flower is the colour of sunshine and there are yellow roses and blooms of every kind. I even saw a humming bird this morning but it moved too fast for me to photograph and share.

If you’re anywhere nearby, I’d love to meet you! Warmest thanks to Ana of Fables & Fancies book store in Sierra Madre, LA, where I’ll be signing my books and answering questions about books, writing and creativity.

Ana, you are a book goddess. Where would we be if generous bookstore owners like you did not make space for authors to meet readers? Of course, readers connect with writers throughout time and space, thanks to books, yet I am indebted to you and to those like you who bring to life the power of the written word and the power of community, all in one treasured place.

A cosy corner in Sierra Madre’s Fables and Fancies bookstore

Drop in between 11am and 1pm at 50, W Sierra Madre Blvd, in Sierra Madre, a charming part of Pasadena, LA. Please help spread the word, and bring your friends and family.

Meet feel-good fiction author Amber Jakeman at Fables & Fancies, Sierra Madre, California on Sunday June 21

A reminder you can also catch me at the Willoughby Literary Festival, coming up on Friday 17 July, where I will interview author Mary-Anne O’Connor.
